THE scorer of Hereford United's most famous goal says he's pleased 'to come back home'.

Ronnie Radford scored a thunderbolt as non-league Hereford recorded a 2-1 FA Cup win over top-flight Newcastle United at Edgar Street in 1972.

It is one of the biggest FA Cup upsets of all time and Radford's rocket is replayed on television each year.

Speaking this afternoon, Radford said: “It’s like coming home. You wouldn’t believe what it was like yesterday when we got here and what we went through last night. I can’t tell you in words what it feels like coming home because every time I come back to Hereford it just seems to get better and better."

Radford also spent six years at Cheltenham Town, who United drew 1-1 with today.

“Hereford is always going to be special for me – for what we achieved and nobody can ever take that away from us," said Radford.
