Hereford businesses can recycle paper and cardboard
7:00am Saturday 28th January 2012
A WEEKLY recycling service for Hereford businesses has been launched by the council.
The scheme will be available to firms in a four-mile radius of the city centre with paper set to be collected in 240-litre bins.
One business already signed up is The Laurels veterinary practice in Whitecross.
“By recycling our paper and cardboard we have managed to reduce our waste sent to landfill by half, saving ourselves a lot of money on our waste disposal bills,” said Sandra Hunt who works at the practice.
Businesses, which must already be trade wheelie bin customers, receive a 240-litre bin and have to pay £2 a week for the first bin and £1 for any additional bins.
Councillor Peter Sinclair- Knipe, Herefordshire Council’s assistant cabinet member for waste services, said: “Our recycling service for residents has proved to be a great success and I am delighted we are now able to offer this service to businesses”
